In the spring when the job data supported his claim that his plan was working Governor Walker loved these numbers.  Now that the data is showing the biggest job losses in the nation he’s blaming the numbers and calling them unreliable.

Recall Scott Walker

On Tuesday just after midnight the effort to recall Governor Scott Walker began.  There is a lot of work to be done collecting the signatures needed to begin putting Wisconsin back on track.  The best way to get involved is through A United Wisconsin To Recall Walker.  The first week of the recall will be featuring a rally in Madison at the State Capitol building.  Pre-rally events begin at 11:00am and the rally begins at 1:00pm.  Buses will be available from D.C. 48 at 3427 W. St. Paul Ave. departing this Saturday morning at 10:00am and returning by 5:00pm.

Budget Hearing Rally

Tonight at 6:30pm the Common Council will be holding a public hearing on the Mayor’s proposed budget. This budget contains many cuts that will impact the City and employees. AFSCME District Council 48 plans to fill the room with as many people as possible and send a message to the Aldermen to pass a budget that is good for the City and employees. This hearing is in City Hall, 3rd floor. Rides will also be available from District Council 48 at 3427 W St. Paul Ave.

Dane County Judge MaryAnn Sumi today issued a permanent injunction against Governor Walker’s collective bargaining bill.  The bill is dead until taken up by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.  Judge Sumi’s decision (PDF File) states that there was, “clear and convincing evidence” that the Republicans violated the State’s open meeting laws with their swift passage of the bill.

From We Are Wisconsin, “As we speak, Scott Walker and his allies in the Legislature are preparing amendments to the state budget that strip collective bargaining rights as they rush to implement their radical agenda – even though courts are currently blocking Walker’s illegal power grab. We need you at our May 14 rally at the Capitol and to say ‘don’t you dare!’ to their radical plan.

This Saturday labor groups from across the State plan to hold the biggest rally yet in Madison. Buses will be departing from District Council 48 in Milwaukee at Noon this Saturday for a 3:00pm rally at the Capitol.  Buses will depart Madison at 5:00pm.  If you’ve been to a rally thank you, if you haven’t, this is your chance.  Head out to Madison this Saturday for the biggest rally yet.
